In-House Meeting with Chinese Delegation from BCIM-ILFA (Press Release)

The Institute of Strategic Studies, Islamabad (ISSI) host an In-House Meeting today with an 8-member Chinese delegation representing the Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar (BCIM) Cooperation Forum China chapter, The Kunming Institute of International Logistics and Finance (ILFA). The delegation was part of the New Silk Road Initiative, promoting bilateral and multilateral ties in the avenues of investment, financial markets and business development.

The members of the delegation included: Mr. Yang Xiao Ping, Governor, Kunming Central Branch, Peoples’ Bank of China; Mr. Xia Shu, Chairman, Fudian Bank; Mr. Liu Jin Xin, Chairman, China Kunming International Logistics & Finance Association; Mr. Tan Tai Ping, Section Chief, Financial Affairs Office of Yunnan Peoples Government; Mr. Gao Can, Director of General Office, Financial Affairs Office of Yunnan Peoples’ Government; Mr. Liu Guang Xi, Director, Financial Affairs Office of Yunnan Peoples’ Government; Mr. Chen Yun Bo, Deputy Director, Financial Affairs Office of Yunnan Peoples’ Government; Ms Juan Du, Deputy Secretary General, China Kunming International Logistics & Finance Association.

Chairman ISSI, Ambassador Khalid Mahmood welcome d the distinguished guests and expressed his gratitude for the warmth and affection shown by President Xi Jinping for the people of Pakistan during his visit.

The Director General, ISSI, Masood Khan said that the geo-strategic relations between Pakistan and China are now taking a transformative turn towards geo-economic partnership and cooperation, and that the fruits of these relations will not only benefit people of the both countries, but will also act as a catalyst for regional cooperation and integration.

Dr. Liu Guangxi said that socio-economic development is the key to all local and regional problems. He emphasized the nature of cordial relations shared between the two countries and spoke with firm belief that Pakistan’s security is China’s security. Both countries, he said, will fight terrorism and poverty together, and the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will open Asia to the world and usher in great opportunities for both countries that will have a lasting impact on the lives of the people and change the course of our destines for the better. He also called for greater interaction and research between the two institutes that can guide the course of projects to be pursued under CPEC and help in strengthening mechanisms of monitoring and regulation for the transparent dispensation of funds.
