Dr. Ahmad Rashid Malik has been working as Senior Research Fellow (China, Japan, & Asia-Pacific) at the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad. He earned his Doctorate from La Trobe University, Melbourne, Australia (1998), and M.A. from the International University of Japan (国際大学), Niigata, Japan (1989). He had been Fellow of the Korea Foundation at the Economic Institute of Yonsei University, Seoul, Republic of Korea (1998) and Fellow of the Japan Foundation in Tokyo (2010-11). He regularly writes for newspapers and magazines especially on East Asian affairs and contributed a number of research papers in academic journals in the wider perspective of political economy. He is the author of Pakistan-Japan Relations: Continuity and Change in Economic Relations and Security Interests (London & New York: Routledge, 2008). He had been Head of Department of International Relations at Preston University, Islamabad. Previously, he also worked for the Islamabad Policy Research Institute as Research Fellow (Japan & East Asia) during 2005-10. He also worked as Economic Analyst/Adviser for Korean multinational Daewoo in Pakistan and carried out mega commercial projects inter-alia the M-2 Motorway project, Daewoo Express Bus, & Daewoo City Bus in Lahore as its pioneer.
