Pakistan PM looks to play peacemaker with Saudi Arabia, Iran visits

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will travel to Saudi Arabia and Iran on Monday, in a bid to bridge the growing divide between the two countries after the Sunni kingdom’s execution of a Shi’ite cleric sparked a bitter row.

Sharif will fly to Saudi Arabia on Monday before visiting Iran’s capital Tehran on Tuesday, Pakistan’s foreign office said in a statement on Sunday. Army chief General Raheel Sharif will also accompany the prime minister during the visit, government sources told Reuters.
