March 23, 2022

The Centre for Afghanistan, Middle East & Africa (CAMEA)at the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) organized a  web celebration today to celebrate Pakistan Day. The meeting was attended by research faculty and administration  at ISSI,

During her remarks, Ms Amina Khan Director CAMEA  said that March 23 is a significant date for Pakistan. In 1940 on this date, the All-India Muslim League moved a resolution in its annual session in Lahore that demanded the establishment of a separate homeland for the Muslims of British India. We all have seen that Pakistan is a country that started its journey from sacrifices and would continue to do so. Let us all renew the resolve to become one nation with one destiny, thus honoring the sacrifices of our great leaders and forefathers. No power  on earth can undo Pakistan, she concluded.

Ambassador Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry, Director General ISSI, stated that minorities in India, people in Afghanistan  are struggling for humanitarian aid and people in Iran are living under sanctions. We must have to be thankful to our creator that we are living in an independent country. He stressed that we can still do better by taking the resolve of this day that we will do whatever we can do to make this country strong and prosperous. We can all contribute in our modest way  to make this nation strong. We all are responsible for our actions and such days are a reminder that if we want to make this nation great we all have to put in our quest on both national and individual level.

Dr Talat Shabir Director Administration  was of the view that we have to give similar reaffirmations in order to make our country strong and prosperous.

Director  Arms Control and Disarmament Centre (ACDC) Malik Qasim Mustafa, said that on this day we should make a commitment to work hard and we should strive hard to make our nation strong.

Areeba Arif Khan, Research associate at CAMEA said that Pakistan  day is  an important day in history.  Today, as we celebrate the 82nd Pakistan , we are also painfully aware of the suffering of our oppressed brothers and sisters in Indian occupied Kashmir. But even in these difficult times, every year the brave people of Kashmir raise the flag of the Islamic republic of Pakistan in commemoration of this day. This valiant act is a confirmation of our fraternal bond with the people of Kashmir. We hope that this struggle may end soon and a new and independent dawn rises on the foothills of the beautiful valley of Kashmir.

Murtaza Ali, intern at CAMEA, said that today we commemorate Pakistan’s Resolution day.  It is a very significant event in our history that devised a course for a separate homeland for the muslims in the sub continent. It kindled the sense of freedom in masses & events following this resolution materialized the dream of Pakistan’s founding fathers.

Imama Khan, intern at CAMEA was of the view that  Pakistanis can and must revise the essence that supports our spirit. The 23rd March represents democracy and liberty. It represents that we appreciate the right to live in a democracy and to choose the type of country in which we wish to live today.
