Extremist forces in India have increased pressure on the government in New Delhi against playing cricket with Pakistan. According to reports in the Indian media, the series may not be played in Sri Lanka, the likely neutral venue after India refused to play in UAE.

After multiple snags the media reported both Islamabad and New Delhi to have given the go ahead for a series to be played in Sri Lanka. At the time, BCCI senior official Rajeev Shukla said the much-anticipated India-Pakistan series will happen tentatively from December 15 at the neutral venue.
