BHUBANESWAR: The US has intensified its counter-terrorism operations by urging Pakistan to take action against Islamic groups that spread violence, according to a top official in the Obama administration.

“The US, in concert with its coalition partners (nations), has been engaged in a massive and comprehensive exercise to fight terrorism in the region. We have been sensitizing local communities in Muslim-dominated countries, including Pakistan to isolate the Islamic groups,” said US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Nisha Desai Biswal, who reached Bhubaneswar on Monday on a week-long tour.
