Mr. Kashif Mumtaz


Areas of Research:

Internal Security and conflict

Kashif Mumtaz has a long association with the Institute of Strategic Studies, Islamabad. He joined ISSI in May 2002 and was part of ISSI research team till January 2008. He rejoined the Institute in December 2009. During the 22 months that he was away from the Institute he worked in the social development sector. He has extensive research experience with regional focus on Middle East and Pakistan. He has held a visiting fellowship at John Curtin Institute of Public Policy Curtin University of Technology, Perth, WA.

His research interests include sectarian and political violence in Pakistan, internal displacement, humanitarian issues, and democracy and governance in Pakistan.

He was educated at University of Oxford (MPhil Development Studies), Australian National University, Canberra (Masters in International Affairs), and Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad (MSc History).
