Shamsa Nawaz did her MSc. in Strategic Studies from the Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad, 1983. She served at the Institute of Regional Studies, Islamabad, as a Research Analyst for three years and looked after the Strategic and Defence section of the South Asian region. She is an author of two widely read books, India’s Nuclear Weapons Programme?,(1985) and Pakistan’s Futuristic Peace Paradigm, (1995). She also did a short course on ” Ecology”, 1993, from Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok. She also contributed widely to the national and international seminars. During her earlier one year brief stay at the Institute of Strategic Studies, Islamabad, 1990, she looked after the Middle East region and Warsaw and NATO. During all these gap years, she remained affiliated with the education sector as a visiting teacher at the Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, International Islamic University, Islamabad, and National College of Arts, Rawalpindi. She was a Regional Director for a private school system just before rejoining the ISS in February, 2013.
