Pakistan was placed last out of 148 nations in the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) annual gender gap report, released on June 11, 2025. The WEF Global Gender Index evaluates the performance and status of nations with regard to gender parity. It includes indices for political empowerment, health and survival, educational attainment, and economic participation and opportunity.[1] This report claims that although there has been an improvement in gender parity by 2.3% since 2006, Pakistan’s situation has grown worse lately as it sees an overall parity score decline from 2025, from 57% to 56.7%.[2]
According to the report, the gender gap is growing once more, particularly in the areas of employment, income, and economic prospects, where Pakistan saw a 1.3 percentage point decline this year alone.[3]
