The visit of Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian to Pakistan on 2-3 August 2025 marks another significant development in the long-standing relations between the two neighbouring countries. In the run-up, the Pakistan Foreign Office framed the visit as one intended to “further cement the brotherly relations between the two countries,” describing it as a diplomatic opportunity to reinvigorate ties across multiple sectors.[1] The Iranian Foreign Ministry described the visit as the start of a “new chapter” in bilateral engagement. Iran’s MFA stated that it “will usher in a new chapter” in the strategic partnership between Pakistan and Iran.[2]
