Drones are no longer just a futuristic machine; they have now officially become a pivotal part of how wars are fought today. From providing eyes in the sky to delivering precision strikes, drones are changing how militaries operate, often replacing riskier and more expensive methods. In recent years, the impact of drones has been seen on some of the world’s most intense battlefields, from Ukraine’s defences against Russia to the Armenia-Azerbaijan clashes, where the usage of drones has helped shape the outcome of entire warfare campaigns. This global shift has now reached South Asia in the form of the recent India-Pakistan military conflict that occurred in May 2025. During this conflict, drones played a major role in surveillance, cross-border strikes, and even targeting infrastructure, marking a turning point in how the two rivals wage war and how the landscape of these skirmishes between India and Pakistan has evolved with the presence of modern combat technology, particularly UAVs.
