Pakistan has released 86 Indian fishermen from a Karachi jail, with another 87 to be released soon.

They will travel to Wagah border and be handed over to Indian authorities on Monday. They are among over 300 Indian fishermen in Pakistani jails for violating the country’s territorial water. Pakistan is planning to release the second batch in the coming days to improve relations with India.

The two countries arrest fishermen who stray into each other’s territorial waters. Over 400 Pakistan fishermen are now in Indian jails.
