Allaying Afghan concerns

The good news is Pakistan and Afghanistan are still talking despite the angry outburst of Afghan President Ashraf Ghani against Pakistan, for what he said was Islamabad’s failure to stop Taliban militants from plotting terror strikes from our soil. A wave of bomb attacks had killed dozens of Afghans and injured numerous in recent days. In what appeared to be a serious effort on the part of Afghanistan to rescue the relationship that the two countries had built so painstakingly over the last several months, Kabul sent to Pakistan, on August 13, a high-powered delegation led by its foreign minister. The country’s defence chief and its top spy were also part of the group.
