Monday, November 23, 2015 – POPE Francis described the coordinated terror attacks in Paris on November 13, the deadliest since World War II, as part of a “piecemeal third world war”. This is true, because we have been fighting this global war for the last 14 years.
The instant reactions to the mass killings in Paris were shock, horror and outpouring of grief. Then started the familiar debate about the predisposition of Muslims towards violence, introspection in European countries about their role in extra-regional conflicts, the need to enhance vigilance to avert serious intelligence failures, and the best means to respond to terrorist attacks in future.
