Pakistan-Malaysia relations are characterized by mutual trust, respect, shared faith, cultural similarities and growing economic collaboration. The recent visit of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to Malaysia from 5-7 October 2025 marks a significant moment in the upward trajectory of Pakistan-Malaysia relations.[1] The Joint Statement issued at the conclusion of the visit reaffirmed the enduring strength of their bilateral cooperation and outlined a comprehensive roadmap to further upscale the ties. Pakistan’s longstanding engagement as a sectoral Dialogue Partner of ASEAN further compliments its outreach to South East Asia- offering avenues for structured collaboration with Malaysia within the ASEAN framework. The current volume of bilateral trade is USD 1.5 billion per annum.[2] Both countries are exploring new synergies under the framework of CPEC connectivity and ASEAN integration. The enhanced engagement extends beyond traditional diplomacy to closer cooperation in the domains of Artificial Intelligence, climate change, renewable energy, halal food, and interfaith harmony. It aligns with Pakistan’s Vision East Asia Policy[3] situating the partnership within a broader framework of South–Southeast Asian integration.
