PRESS RELEASE – ICWA-CPIFA Webinar on China-Pakistan Relations

On May 26, 2022, Islamabad Council of World Affairs, Pakistan (ICWA) and the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA) organized a webinar China-Pakistan Relations. Nearly 20 delegates from both sides participated in the webinar. Amb. Khalid Mahmood, President of ICWA and Mr. Wang Chao, President of CPIFA addressed the opening ceremony.

During the working sessions, the representatives of the two sides conducted in depth and friendly exchanges on “Enduring China-Pakistan Friendship in the Evolving World Order”, “The Prospects and Risks of CPEC and “US ‘Indo-Pacific Strategy’ and the current Regional Situation”.

ICWA members who participated in the webinar included, Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry, former Foreign Secretary, Dr. Ishrat Hussain, former Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, Amb Masood Khalid, Amb Naghmana Hashmi, Raja Ameer Iqbal, and several former diplomats and scholars. Chinese representatives included Amb. Li Jie, Vice of CPIFA, Amb. Yue Xiaoyong, Special Envoy for Afghan Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Rong Ying, Vice President and Senior Research Fellow of the China Institute of International Stuides and scholars from Tsinghua University, China Institutes of Contemporary International relations, Zhejiang International Studies University, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, china Institute of International Studies.
