US welcome Pakistan’s ratification of the amendment to CPPNM

WASHINGTON – The United States (US) on Wednesday welcomed the announcement by Pakistan to ratify the 2005 amendment to the Convention on Physical Protection of Nuclear Material (CPPNM).

The US State Department spokesman Mark Toner said at a daily briefing that the US welcomed the ratification of the convention by Pakistan which was yet to be ratified by about eight countries. The spokesman also said that the US was looking forward to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s visit to Washington next week to attend the Nuclear Security Summit.
