Muhammad Mateen

India’s multilateralism, India–Bangladesh relations, and the Indo-Pacific region.

Muhammad Mateen is a Research Associate at the India Study Centre, Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI). He holds an MS and a BS in International Relations from the Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (SZABIST), Islamabad, where he was placed on the Chancellor’s Honor Roll in recognition of his academic excellence.

He has previously served with London Politica as a Freelance Researcher and Communications Associate. He has received professional training through the EnglishWorks program sponsored by the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad and is a member of the Pakistan-U.S. Alumni Network (PUAN). Additionally, he completed diplomacy training at the ICYF Diplomacy Academy, Istanbul, Türkiye, and participated in a workshop on Gray Zone Activities in Great Power Competition organized by the Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies. He has two journal publications to his credit. His research focuses on India’s multilateral engagements within key regional and global organizations, including the SCO, SAARC, Quad, ASEAN, UN, and BRICS, as well as on India–Bangladesh relations and the Indo-Pacific region.
