The latest development regarding the issue of the repatriation of millions of Afghan refugees in Pakistan is the Afghan government’s request to allow the 1.5 million registered refugees to stay on in Pakistan for another two years. Presently, there are an estimated three million Afghan refugees living in Pakistan, of which nearly half are illegal inhabitants. The registered Afghan refugees have been allowed by Pakistan to stay till December 31, 2015.
