China Pakistan Study Centre (CPSC) at the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) in collaboration with PowerChina hosted a two-day International Conference on November 20-21, 2019 titled ‘Belt and Road Initiative in the Changing Regional Dynamics’ on November 20, 2019. H.E Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs graced the inaugural session as Chief Guest. He stated that, ‘Things are changing in the region and we are recognizant of alignments. Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is a transformational venture and can bring peace and development in the region. Considering BRI and CPEC a zero-sum game, we believe, is unwise.’ The inaugural session was attended by President Power China, Mr. Du Chunguo and Ambassador People’s Republic of China, H.E. Yao Jing. In his welcome remarks, Director General Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad, Ambassador Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhry accurately sketched the changing dynamics of the region and said the new great power struggle, initiated mainly by the US, can either yield new globalism or bring the old globalism to halt altogether. He said that the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) can help us navigate the challenges of present times.
